If you don't want to keep track of the files, you could create the default.cfg. Well, do that by copying the default.cfg and only setting the defaults. The whole point in doing this would be so you could configure a game once and have all games that are similar to this work right? Somebody below posted the file format if you want. Anyone have any ideas or can anyone point me in the right direction? Or are any programmers out there interested in writing a small little simple util to do this? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would find this util useful. See my dilema? There has to be some program out there were I can choose a particular key setup and apply it too many games all at once. But I don't want to have to go into every game that I want to change the key config for. But for 4 players games (like dungeons and dragons, TMNT, XMen) I want players A B C D to be players 1 2 3 and 4 respectivly. For all two player games I want the players B and C (in the middle) to be players 1 and 2 respecitvely. I have a cabinet with 4 joysticks and buttons (from left to right, Player A, B,C and D). Anyways, I'm wondering about this because there a lot of games that I would like to change the keyboard setup for. ini in a wild directory.Okay, you know how you can edit the key configuration for the default Mame setup and for each individual game? Well is the only way to do this from within Mame? Are there any programs that will edit the cfg files for each game for me? Because they are not ascii editable text files as far as I can see. Same with malafe if that can write to the mame.ini which I think it does? If that path isn't immediately found that might also create another. I still don't know what triggers this but I'm assuming something with whatever file/s sets the default paths? Also because mameuifx can manipulate the mame.ini, that might also be causing it. I searched every drive for mameuifx.ini and found that in several places.ĭeleting them all except for the ones under the mameuifx\ini default folder and testing again seemed to fix it. I'm also using mameuifx32 and the same thing happened. I did a search over all connected drives for mame.ini and it continued to be found under c:\windows\syswow64\, and randomly under c:\user\etc. In my case the mame.ini was being re-created outside the mame folder because the default.ini wasn't immediately found for some reason. I've also had similar problems when changing pc's. I fixed it by changing the mame.ini multikeyboard 0. What other settings are there for "video" ddraw? Any others? Should it be a less-intense setting (I only want to play the old classics like 1942 on it - I realise its not a beefy enough machine for a lot of stuff). It is to a 1600x1200 monitor so I wonder if that is stuggling in some way and crashes/freezes mame? video is d3d.
MAME KEYBOARD CONFIG FULL
It seems to me the video is freezing at full screen/near full screen sizes but is okay in a window (at the actual game resolution I assume) In fact, in windowed mode it runs no problems which also helped work out where the problem might lie.īut in "window=1 and maximise=1) it doesn't work (just as the original window=0,maximise=1 was doing).
MAME KEYBOARD CONFIG HOW TO
However, I've worked out how to run in windowed mode under WINDOW VIDEO OPTIONS and I can see a little more what is going on. It then needed switch on/off to get anywhere. It seemed that way as it was full screen and no keys were working, inc Ctrl-Alt-Del etc so I couldn't even get to task manager etc etc. I've established tonight the problem is not the keyboard though. It didn't work any better but I have found out a little more tonight. and just one rom (1942) in the rom folder and deleted the nvram and samples too. I'd put it all into a new/fresh dire with mame, no ini (-cc to create default), cfg all deleted etc.
